For being an aftermarket trunk release solenoid, Viper should have considered that not all trunk latches are as friendly with these solenoids. The solenoid is not powerful enough to pull open the spring-ed latch on the trunk release of my 94 honda accord. No matter how you position the pull-line of the solenoid you cannot remotely open your trunk with the kind of power this solenoid puts out. I wound up breaking the spring on my latch. Although the remote trunk release works now, the trunk only latches shut 10% of the time. The only way you can get this to work on a latch like this is to reduce the spring tension to where it is just enough for the solenoid to pull open and enough that the latch will work properly when the trunk is closed. Another possibility is to lengthen the arm you want your solenoid to pull thereby increasing the torque that the solenoid can work with.
Updating my reviews...I just wish I can drop another star from this item.

I managed to make it work with my 99 Camry LE yesterday. The installation is tricky and I was lucky I found a magic place in the locking mechanism to hook the steel wire.
The provided green wire is way too short. I ended up buying additional wire. The trunk release switch is crappy. It doesn't work most of the time. Fortunately, I hook it up with a relay from my bulldog ke1702 keyless entry. And that works all the time.
Also, grounding is important. If the grounding on the trunk lid is not good, route another wire to a factory grounding point on the body.
The most difficult part is not electrical but mechanical. There's no standard way to hook the steel wire. I took the locking mechanism out and studied a bit. I found a spot where only a little force and moving distance needed to open it. The spot is on the actual movement which locks the latch and it doesn't interface with the manual trunk release cable and the arm operated by the trunk key.

Despite the reviews I purchased anyway. Installation was easy, diagrams were easy to follow. Solenoid pulls the lock fine when testing with a screw driver, but when my trunk latches it, the solenoid does not have enough power to pop the trunk. Would have loved to give this 5 stars, but unfortunately I now need to buy a different solenoid and throw this one in the trash.

ALERT: THE COBY 10" MODEL MID1042-8 IS AVAILABLE FOR PRE ORDER FOR 199.98, I'M NOT SURE IF THE PHOTO HERE IS ACCURATE IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THE 9742-8 MODEL BUT A LARGER SCREEN, THIS IS A GREAT PRICE FOR A 10 INCH TABLET
Coby has done there homework. They have been around since 1990 and are not a fly by night corporation. This tablet is very responsive, no lags whatsoever. Aside from not including the Android Marketplace (now known as Google Play) you can download Amazon App Store application from Amazon.com, it has all the hot apps you would need. The GetJar simply shows you FREE apps, they change every week so its a good place for free apps, but not all of them are something you'd want.
WARNING: OLDER COBY MODEL "ROOT INSTRUCTIONS" MAY NOT WORK FOR THIS NEWER GENERATION OF COBY TABLETS, PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE TRYING THEM. COBY DOES NOT MIND IF YOU ROOT THE TABLET TO GET ANDROID MARKETPLACE, I WOULD... Read more

- Great Speed and Usability Improvements. - Missing Features and many new Compatibility Issues.
The tablet itself is speedy and the capacitive multi-touch screen works wonderfully. Picture viewing has improved by orders of magnitude, and all the basic apps packaged with the tablet have significant feature upgrades. My biggest complaint is that many of the file management features seem to have been eliminated or replaced with more automated processes. (e.g. the media player automatically scans your SD memory card and finds all media files) This seems at first to be an advancement, but it takes away the users ability to navigate to specific folders. The collection of all media is lumped together, making the process of viewing specific files more tedious, especially when a significant number of files are present.
My only complaint about the physical product is the plastic edge feels cheap, it is wide with a sharp edge that rests on your hand while holding... Read more

I didn't want to pay twice as much for Apple tablet so I purchased this tablet and I've had it about a week now and love it. I have my main desk PC for word documents and printing. after burning out my laptop and don't want to carry the weight around when I travel. I'm lucky enough to have wifi at work and home so I don"t need an additional internet source. The keyboard works better for my fat fingers than using my android cellphone. I've been pulling up apps and bookmarking my favorite websites all week to make it easier for me. The only disadvantage I'm having is when I'm on my home email site I can't touch and open the emails without the keyboard popping up and getting in the way. I'll have to find a solution for that. I do have limited knowledge on all the tablets out there in the market. I've only just oberve the galaxy, I pad and one other brand from co-workers. I've already attached the 32SD card which! was very simple for more memory. So far it is doing all the... Read more
